You have received your final mission orders from Earth Control. Something has happened to Moonbase Alpha. Since the moon came out of transporter shadow three days ago, there has been no message from the moonbase crew. Its your job to figure out what's going on up there.

The planned work schedule had the crew placing sensing equipment on the south rim of the crater where the moon base is located. Remote telemetry through the transporter gate tells us that there is breathable atmosphere on the other side of the transporter, but that's about all we know for sure.

You can use the transporter as soon as you are ready. Good Luck!

Note to players: Besides the standard TADS command set (GET, DROP, EXAMINE, TURN, etc.), I have included several verbs specific for this game: KISS, SHOOT, SMASH, and WATCH are used for specific events in this scenario (although none are needed to complete the main goal of the adventure). In addition, information about a walkthrough may be found using the WALKTHRU command. General help may be asked for using the HELP command.

The first part of the notebook is full of standard log entries. But the last few pages are differnt, scrawled as if in haste:

May 20. Jeffer's disappeared today while out on a maintenance EVA to the far side of the crater. I did an EVA to see if I could find out what happened, but there were no signs.

May 21. Repeated EVA today. Didn't find Jeffer's, but I did find his video recorder. Not sure what to make of it, since it seems to show some sort of life form approaching the camera. Tomorrow I'll send the film along to Earth. Disturbing... Must remember to recharge the blue air tank before the next EVA.

May 22. The thing is in the base. Not sure how it got in, but its here... I'm worried that something bad is going to happen. I think I'm going to transport back to Earth tomorrow when the moon comes out of transport shadow...

The remainder of the notebook is blank.

  • Open the suit locker using they code on the slip of paper in the office.
  • Use the yellow tank in the spacesuit to retrive the wrench and break the monster eggs with the rock.
  • Use the wrench to mount the battery in the exoskeleton so you can use it to kill the monster.

And in case you still don't remember the basic command set:
